From The Crown, The Queen's Gambit to The Umbrella Academy, here are some Emmy Awards-nominated shows you should watch on Netflix

The Emmy Awards 2021 nominations are in. The Crown leads with 24 nominations in total but that doesn't mean other shows are falling behind—The Queen's Gambit received 18 nods while Bridgerton bagged 12 nominations. Most of the nominated titles from the streaming giant are also historical or period drama pieces but there's plenty for everyone to enjoy.

If you're looking to catch up before the big night in September, be sure to watch these shows streaming on Netflix.

1. Halston

This series is about legendary fashion designer, Halston (Ewan McGregor) as he leverages his name into a worldwide fashion empire and defining the era he lives in.

The Crown is based on the award-winning play, The Audience that chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s all the way to the present day.

4. Bridgerton

Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's best-selling novels, with each book following a Bridgerton sibling's romantic endeavours. The first season follows Daphne Bridgerton (Pheobe Dynevor), the eldest daughter as she makes her debut onto Regency London's competitive marriage market and meets the rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page).

5. The Kominsky Method

The Kominsky Method revolves around ageing acting coach, Sandy Kominsky (Michael Douglas) who's already reaching his twilight years but isn't quite ready to hang the towel just yet. Once famous, Kominsky and his agent, Norman Newlander (Alan Arkin) navigate what life throws at them while living in Los Angeles—a city that where youth and beauty reign supreme.

7. The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy follows the Hargreeves family—seven siblings and their billionaire father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves who created the Umbrella Academy to prepare his adopted children to be superheroes and save the world. But to put it simply—things don't go as planned.
