Coming up with ideas for date night doesn’t have to be hard, especially when the island is filled with exciting activities to try. So, why not ditch the classic dinner and movie routine and switch things up with a unique activity for your next date night? 

From cable car rides to zip lining, there’s never a shortage of quirky date ideas in Singapore. Whether you are planning your first date night with a new lover or looking to spice things up, here are some fun activities to add to your must-try list.

For the Romantics

1. Kintsugi Art Studio

Find beauty in imperfections at this art studio. The studio specialises in Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery. Go for its couple’s session workshop, where you’ll learn more about Kintsugi and its history while restoring your own Kintsugi pieces. The session is also curated for couples to help deepen their love and connection with each other. Date night kits are available too, allowing you to create your pieces from the comfort of your home. Each kit has everything you need to create your own piece, including two heart-shaped ceramics, gold powder and step-by-step instructions. 

2. Fotomat

No need to catch a flight to South Korea to take photos at trendy self photo studios. You can capture memories of your own at this Fotomat in Singapore. Having the shutter clicker in your hands means you’ll have full control of each photo you take, allowing you to take your time to get to your perfect pose. Go for a 15-minute session and bring home two printed sessions on the same day. If you’re not a fan of black and white photos, visit its Colour Room instead. Your fur kids can also join in on the fun as studio rooms are all pet-friendly.

3. Have a night filled with music

Surprise your partner with a Candlelight concert in Singapore. After all, there's nothing more romantic than being serenaded by professional musicians in a concert hall illuminated by candlelights. Since it first launched in Singapore in 2019, these concerts have been held at multiple stunning venues including Chijmes and Victoria Concert Hall. Head to its website and choose from a wide variety of concerts from Taylor Swift’s best hits to Chopin’s best works—there is something for every music taste. 

4. Have a night under the stars

While our island is filled with bright city lights at night, it doesn’t mean that we aren’t able to admire the stars. Head to Science Centre Singapore for a private stargazing session. Here, learn more about the various stars and constellations in the sky as well as observe them from a 40cm mega-telescope. 

5. Couple onsen at Ikeda Spa

Get transported to a ryokan in Japan at Ikeda Spa, which brings the authentic Japanese onsen experience to Singapore. The bath uses hinoki—Japan’s prized cypress wood—which releases mineral oils with anti-bacterial properties and soothing, uplifting scents.

8. Jewellery-making at Fat Anvil Studios

Jewellery is a great gift to commemorate important milestones, but it is even more memorable when you get to create it yourself.

Local silversmith Fat Anvil Studios offers a private workshop for two, where you and your partner can spend some quality time soldering, filing, and polishing away to create a piece of jewellery—such as a promise ring—for one another. 925 sterling silver is used for this workshop, but you can also purchase gemstones to add to your creation—set by Fat Anvil Studios’ silversmiths.

9. Have dinner in a cable car

10. Ride the waves at Trifecta

Adventurous couples can head to this lifestyle concept to ride endlessly perfect waves (minus any sunburn) at its indoor surf machine. Designed and built by the world leader of standing wave technology, Citywave, this machine features varying wave heights for beginner and advanced surfers. It also uses deep-water pump technology, creating powerful and realistic waves up to 60cm deep. A variety are classes are available from beginner to intermediate. 17. Zip-lining at Forest Adventure

Get your adrenaline pumping at Singapore’s largest treetop adventure park in Bedok Reservoir Park. The park’s Grand Course, designed for adults, will have you and your partner testing your coordination and navigating obstacles on the treetops, and swinging over the water on three breath-taking zip lines.

Don’t miss the Big Zip—a 300-metre zip line that begins from a 14-metre-high platform and sends you flying over the reservoir.

18. Ice-skating at The Rink

Recreate the romantic ice-skating scenes from the movies at The Rink, one of the only two ice-skating rinks in Singapore. The Rink stands out as the only Olympic-sized rink however, which allows it to host tournaments such as ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating and ice curling.

While The Rink offers ice skating courses, you can also enjoy the rink recreationally during the public skating sessions. Just remember to check its calendar to find out when the rink is open to the public.

19. Rock-climbing at Climb Central

A relationship on the rocks takes on a new meaning here at Climb Central as you challenge your partner to make it to the top. Whether you have prior climbing experience, all guests are welcome and you can get started after a 15min safety briefing.

If you and your other half would prefer a guided session, the gym also offers introductory classes over one and a half or two hours where you will learn how to use the safety systems and pick up some climbing tips. Who knows—this might just be the next hobby you can embark on together.

20. Snow play at Snow City

Snow City may be a favourite for children and young families, but adults can have plenty of fun here too. And with travelling limited for the foreseeable future, the indoor snow theme park may just be the next best thing to spending winter overseas. Admissions include one or two hours of snow play where you can enjoy a playful snowball fight with your partner. Snow City also recently introduced a Winter Shooting Arena, where you can practice target shooting or take part in a close quarter battle for up to eight players—sounds like an idea for a group date!

21. Try stand-up paddle boarding at Ola Beach Club

Navigate through the lagoons of Sentosa with a paddle in hand while you test your balance on a paddle board. Ideal for sea sports enthusiasts, stand up paddling is a great way to tone those core muscles. Enjoy the sea breeze as you paddle through the waters and if you’re lucky, you can even spot a White-spotted Eagle Ray swimming beneath the surface of the water.   


For the Novelty-Seekers

22. Explore the Bird Paradise

Go bird watching at Mandai Bird Paradise. Here, look forward to over 3,000 birds and over 400 different species. The 17-hectare park is also home to some of the world’s most threatened species, the Philippines Eagles and the straw-headed Bulbuls. Walk through its eight aviaries before checking out its various keeper-led experiences, like the Starlings feeding session and Hornbill keeper talks. The latter is an interactive session where you’ll learn more about these birds while they’re being fed. 

23. Have a picnic

Put on your sunscreen and insect repellent, pack some bites and have a romantic picnic at a park this weekend. With so many public gardens to choose from, there’s definitely a perfect picnic spot for everyone. If you’re planning on picking out a picnic basket, various restaurants and cafes offer gourmet baskets for two—including Bees Knees. On top of food and drink, its Picnic Buzz-kets are also complete with mats, foldable tables and cushions.

24. Relive your childhood days at the arcade

You’re never too old to visit the arcade. Transport yourselves back to childhood and challenge each other to on Dance Dance Revolution or blast aliens on space invaders. The island is filled with multiple arcades—visit Timezone for classic games like table hockey and bowling or hit up Level Up, an arcade bistro bar filled with drinks, games and music.

25. Race like a Grand Prix driver

Thrill seekers can spend a day racing around a go kart circuit at Kf1 Karting Circuit Kranji. Bring out your competitive side and race through Singapore’s largest go-karting circuit. Anticipate a 960-metre circuit featuring 18 turns that’s sure to get your adrenaline pumping. 

26. Admire the view from above with Skyhelix

Skyhelix, which opened on December 15 this year, is Singapore’s newest attraction and highest open-air panoramic ride. It's also an awesome place for a date with your special someone. On the 12-minute ride, guests can sit on an open-air gondola that will slowly rotate 35 meters above the ground. At the peak, guests will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of Sentosa and the city while their legs dangle in the air.

Considering that the ride’s apex is 79 metres above sea level, it is also one of the highest vantage points on Sentosa so this isn’t for the faint-hearted. The best part is that you can actually bring food and drinks onboard the ride. There is really nothing more serene than sipping a cocktail while being 35 meters in the air and with the wind whipping through your hair with your favourite person.

27. Head down to River Wonders

While going to the zoo might seem overdone, River Wonders, the former River Safari, has an adorable new addition that is sure to get you excited to visit again. While Le Le has departed back to China, there’s still plenty to see. The Manatee Mania, for one, lets you get up close and personal with the adorable animal. Learn more about the aquatic mammal while participating in its daily training sessions—you might even get to feed them during their mealtime. 

28. Virtual escape room by The Fun Empire

Cooperate and get to the bottom of the mystery in this unique escape room, conducted completely online. Currently featured is Curse of the Werewolf, where you each play the descendants of the village chief and save your fellowmen by lifting the curse. The virtual escape room experience requires a minimum of two to play but can accommodate many more players.

If you and your partner would prefer to solve the mystery in person, however, The Fun Empire also offers the game as a real-life escape room experience. It requires a minimum of four to play, so call another couple and make it a double date!

29. VR gaming at Headrock VR

Love games? Then Singapore’s first VR theme park is one not to be missed. Located at Resorts World Sentosa, Headrock VR offers over 11 attractions and games for you and your other half.

The attractions are divided into three zones—Green, which features interactive games perfect for friends and family to play together; Orange, for the adrenaline junkie with adventurous experiences; and Blue, which boasts unique rides like rhythm game Beat Saber and Jump Jump, a jungle adventure.

30. Bungy jumping at AJ Hackett

“You jump, I jump.” Share the adrenaline rush as you take the plunge from 47 metres above ground at Sentosa. Options include the Bungy, the Giant Swing—which accommodates up to three—and the Top Swing. Both of you will receive an e-Certificate to commemorate the feat, as well as photos and videos for the ‘gram. If you’re feeling less adventurous, however, AJ Hackett also offers the world’s first full-time commercial Vertical Skywalk where you can walk vertically down its tower, and the Skybridge, which connects two towers.

31. Indoor skydiving at iFly Singapore

Experience the thrill of free-falling at iFly—the world’s largest themed wind tunnel. With an 18-feet tall acrylic glass wall, you and your other half can enjoy the breathtaking views of Siloso Beach and the South China Sea.

The wind tunnel simulates falling through the air from 12,000 to 3,000 feet and you don’t even have to be a professional to enjoy it—professional training, guidance and gear are provided as part of the exhilarating experience. If you are feeling confident, you could even break out into a dance move or two together in the air.

32. Smashing at Fragment Room

Need to break the ice on the first date? The Fragment Room will quite literally do the trick. Let go of all your inhibitions as you smash away together, with a baseball bat or crowbar in hand. A ‘double package’ at The Fragment Room will provide you and your partner with two crates of breakables to smash within 30min.

To make the experience more enjoyable, you can even add on for items to be coated in neon paint, an unlimited number of glasses, or for an extra crate of breakables to unleash your rage. Protective gear is provided, which includes a helmet and/or full face mask, white coveralls, and cut-proof gloves.

33. Dining in the dark at Nox

Enjoy an intimate dinner like no other—in the dark. With the lights out, Nox’s mystery set menu puts the highlight on taste and texture, teasing your palate with 12 unique dishes served over three courses. There are also options for wine, cocktail, or mocktail tasting, with up to three specially selected or created drinks to match each course of your dinner. With all distractions aside, focus on what’s in front of you—your meal, and your date.

You’ve probably seen those trendy TikToks where users tuft a rug with a handy dandy tufting gun. Make your own creative rug (or even a couple rug) at Tuft Club.
