Come early 2021, the British royal family will be celebrating a new addition, with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank expecting their first baby

While rumours have been rife about a possible new addition to the Cambridge family—which will remain speculations for now—there is one royal baby that is definitely on the way.

Sharing the happy news on Instagram last Friday, Princess Eugenie teased royal fans with an image of her, together with husband Jack Brooksbank holding a tiny pair of bear slippers.

“Jack and I are so excited for early 2021,” she wrote.

The news was confirmed by Buckingham Palace in a statement that said, “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021.”

“The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.

Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson also took to Instagram to share her excitement.

“I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child,” she wrote on Friday.

“Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother. Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy.”

She further expressed her joy in her Youtube series Story Time with Fergie and Friends, on the same day, with a reading of children’s book Nanna Maureen: Here and not Seen by Casey Gillespie, which features a magical grandmother figure.

And from across the pond, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are thought to have “sent their congratulations privately” to the couple as well, as a source tells People.

More than cousins, Harry and Eugenie are known to share a close bond. The Sussexes were guests at Eugenie and Jack’s star-studded ceremony in St George’s Chapel in May 2018, when Harry and Meghan allegedly dropped the bombshell that they were expecting Archie.

Like Archie, Eugenie and Jack’s child will not be receiving a royal title when he or she arrives in early 2021, as Jack chose not to be conferred any royal title at marriage. According to sources close to the couple, Eugenie and Jack want their child to live an “ordinary life” and have an ordinary name.

However, the baby, who will be Queen Elizabeth’s ninth great-grandchild, will still be placed at 11th in line to the throne, after his or her mother Eugenie. That is, until Princess Beatrice, who recently wedded Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi pops a baby too!
