There’s hardly any white space on Alex Chew’s schedule —whether it’s on the work or social front, the affable entrepreneur juggles them all seamlessly.

Together with business partner Raj Datwani, he runs AR Entertainment, which manages oneMichelin-starred restaurant The Kitchen at Bacchanalia, and members-only business club Madison Rooms, which opened last May. They are also behind the successful first edition of electronic dance music (EDM) festival Ultra Singapore held last September. At the same time, Alex was also busy preparing for his wedding in December that same year.

Armed with a passionate zeal to revolutionise the local social scene, the pair are always on the lookout for new business ideas. For Alex, this means overseas trips are often partly work-related. While getting his music fix at the Amsterdam Dance Event last October, he also met with the artiste management teams of worldfamous EDM acts for the next Ultra Singapore happening this June.

“I used to collect basketball cards and still have them in storage. There are a couple of rare and valuable rookie cards that are still in pristine condition.”

“I’m going to catch Guns N’ Roses on February 25 at Changi Exhibition Centre. I grew up listening to their music and don’t know when I would get the chance to see them again.”

“I was at the Amsterdam Dance Event last October and one of the greatest moments for me was watching DJ Maceo Plex spin live at the recently restored two century-old Rijksmuseum.”
