10 Things You Missed At The Singapore Tatler Scions Party
In what is the inaugural launch of Tatler Scions—which celebrates Singapore society's second- and third-generation—we invited the scions themselves for a night of whisky-tasting and revelry, sans their parents.
Here's what went down at the intimate party at exclusive Grande Whisky Collection.
1/10The Grande Whisky Collection
A beautiful space dedicated to the finest and rarest whiskies, the 3,600sqft Grande Whisky Collection was the venue of our inaugural Scions party. Hidden away on the fifth floor of Ion Orchard, the space offers more than 4,500 fine and rare Scotch and Japanese whiskies in its Vault—we're talking Royal Lochnagar 31-year-old single cask and the Yamazaki 50-year old single malt. This also means the Grande Whisky Collection boasts the highest valued collection of whisky in Singapore, and one of the largest in Southeast Asia.

2/10The BMW Z4 photowall
The first thing that guests saw when they arrivde at the party was probably the striking midnight blue BMW Z4, parked by our photo wall. Scions got to step inside the roadster—or sprawl across the hood, if they prefered—for photo prints to remember the event by.
The all-new BMW Z4 is boasting a classic soft top that opens and closes in ten seconds, and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5s. Fast and dynamic—sounds like the perfect match to our young and stylish set.
More than just a photo opp, the BMW Z4 was also the backdrop for the Instagram Stories competition, where guests were encouraged to post their best Instagram Stories by the roadster for a chance to win a dinner for two at Michelin-starred French restaurant Saint Pierre. With our scions strutting their best poses for the 'gram, it was almost too difficult to choose just one—but the winning prize ultimately went to Meaghan See.
To get our guests warmed up for the night, the scions were invited to craft their own welcome cocktails at the DIY booth. The recipe was concocted by whisky expert Jamey Merkel using Auchentoshan's 12-years-old triple distilled single malt scotch whisky with orange bitters, lemon, and chrysanthemum—a sweet beginning for the evening of whisky tasting ahead.
What's a Tatler party without delectable bites? We were treated to savoury canapes from Tim's Fine Catering Services like Singapore chilli crab on toast with coriander chips, mini lobster rolls, and avocado mousse served in waffle cups. The catering service also prepared cheese boards and desserts to pair with the whiskies.
6/10DJ Jordan Telfer
Jetting between New Zealand and Singapore, Jordan Telfer has been playing for five years, spinning at Singapore's prominent clubs like 1880. FOC Sentosa, Canvas, and Cherry Discotheque. The DJ, who enjoys house and future house, kept heads bobbing through the night with tracks like Only Can Get Better (Silk City), Yeah Yeah Yea (Jax Jones), California (Chris Lake Remix), and more.
To kickstart the party, editor, Terence Lim, and digital content director, Daphne Chen-Cordeiro welcomed our guests to the inaugural Tatler Scions party with an opening address. To celebrate this new platform and welcome the scions to the Singapore Tatler family, Terence beckoned everyone to raise their glasses for a toast.

Following the opening dress, Jamey Merkel, who is the brand ambassador of Beam Suntory in Southeast Asia and also Auchentoshan, led our guests in a tasting of the Auchentoshan Three Wood, 18 years old, and 21 years old, guiding them with tasting notes and educating them on the single malt whisky distillery's history and other whisky knowledge.
We spotted many sets of siblings at the party—Bernard Cheong's daughters, Cheryl and Patricia Cheong; Jessie Foo's sons, Jake and Dyon Foo; Nina Ng's daughters, Chloe and Claudine Ng; Henry Mok's children, Ariel and Maverick Mok; and Jaacky See's children, Meaghan and Johannes See—having fun and connecting their social circles.
Guests also returned with a MTM Skincare goodie bag that came with a portable ring-light for Instagram-ready selfies, and a complimentary custom-blended Clearwater treatment at the skincare boutique, which promises to ease away skin troubles that come with stress, late nights, and environmental pollution—the life of a millennial—for a glowing complexion.
