Review
For an easily accessible countryside retreat, visit The Summerhouse in Seletar. Amidst the green spaces, the conserved colonial bungalow provides a relaxing garden setting, complete with fragrant herbs, colourful flowers and unique garden domes for intimate dinners. The farm-to-table concept includes greens and garnishes from the lush garden. Communal dining, priced at $70 per person, utilises the chef’s choice of the freshest ingredients. Smooth, thick avocado with sous-vide egg yolk sits alongside truffle pecorino with its sharp salty taste, balanced by crunchy chia seed crackers. Grilled prawn wrapped in lardo combines sweet, salty and herbaceous tastes. Wood-fired free-range French poulet, tender and moist, is complemented by richly delicate green and purple potato leaves, with creamy, satisfying smoked potato purée. A Valrhona chocolate creation leaves a lasting impression. The wine list covers a wide geographical range, including selections by the glass. Courteous staff add to the laid-back atmosphere.
TATLER TIP
Window-side tables on the second level’s enclosed balcony provide a view over the lawn and the peaceful environment, while garden domes allow for private dinners for two to eight people.
