Since its establishment in 2004, Sabai Fine Thai on the Bay has been consistently preparing authentic Thai fare. It helps that chef Samlee, who previously cooked for royalty, continues to helm the kitchen. Dishes here are refined and well-balanced in terms of flavour. The pomelo salad is tangy, sweet and spicy at the same time, and the addition of roasted coconut and crushed peanuts gives it some textural contrast. The red curry with prawns is also delicious—the seafood isn’t overcooked, and the red curry is addictively rich and flavourful, and brightened by the citrusy notes of the kaffir lime. Also worth trying is the sea bass steamed to perfection and bathed in a punchy sauce of fresh lime juice and chilli. The wine list is compact, yet there’s a bottle that will pair well with the spicy Thai dishes. Don’t hesitate to ask the friendly staff for recommendations.
