Artfully mixing old serving traditions with revamped Cantonese and Sichuan flavours, Min Jiang is Chinese dining at its finest

One of the most recognisable names in Singapore’s Chinese dining scene since 1982, Min Jiang (named after the Min River in the province of Sichuan) located on the ground floor of the Goodwood Park hotel continues to draw in the crowds. Serving a wide selection of Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine, this restaurant is bustling even on weekday evenings. Service is fast-paced and at times lacking, but the food is nonetheless on point, with the ever popular roasted Silver Hill Irish Peking duck not disappointing. The daily soup is always a safe choice for those who want to start the meal with something piping hot. A treat is the braised eel in a claypot, a dish rarely seen in menus today. Save space for the desserts: the black glutinous rice with gula melaka and coconut ice cream makes for a lovely ending. There’s also a wide vegetarian selection for those with dietary requirements.
