Opened in 1999, the secret to this restaurant’s longevity surely lies in the evergreen appeal of its signature item—the roasted prime rib—as well as the very switched-on American-style service. The feel of the restaurant remains decidedly American, with wood-panelled walls accentuated by sconces and a majestic wall-to-ceiling cellar featuring such gems from French first-growths to US cult labels, as well as more humble wines. The dining experience is made all the more memorable by the tableside guéridon service—a rarity in Singapore, but always a pleasure to watch—that showcases meat-carving by the chef, and a crêpes Suzette flambéed by the ever-entertaining service staff. From the ambience to the generous portions, Lawry’s truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best steakhouses in the city.
