Relaxed and chic, this modern French restaurant prides itself as being a place of delicious experimentation. But if deciding on the best dishes to have from the à la carte menu isn’t something you can manage without having the service staff go through each dish with you, the Menu Appetit—a set where you can choose your appetisers, mains and desserts—is ideal. You can also splurge on a couple more items from the Tasting Menu, where a number of noteworthy dishes are available in tasting portions. Standouts include the La Roseval (pig trotter with Roseval potato) from the tasting menu, and a starter of spaghetti in a sauce of Hokkaido sea urchin and a soft-boiled egg from the à la carte menu. For the mains, the classically prepared dish of free-range quail and foie gras is far more satisfying than a rather guileless choice of a whole Maine lobster, cooked on the teppanyaki grill and served with romesco sauce. Thankfully, all the mains come with as much of Robuchon’s notoriously indulgent mashed potatoes as you can stomach.
