When the words “Argentinian” and “steakhouse” are said in succession, serious steak lovers really get excited. Bochinche, possibly Singapore’s only Argentinean restaurant, more than delivers on the steak selection, with friendly service, a lively ambience, suitably hearty wines and a fiery open kitchen. Choose from a half-dozen steak options cooked on the wood-and charcoal-fired parilla, three of which are grass-fed cuts from the South American country that’s renowned for its grassland-roaming cattle. The results are leaner, chewier and more flavourful than your average steak. Most diners opt for the “dirty” sirloin steak, which is cooked directly on the hot coals for a smokier and richer crust—it’s not burnt, however, as there’s not enough oxygen to create a fire. There are sufficient options for non-meat-centric diners, too, such as the grilled provolone cheese drizzled with honey and the sea bream crudo with coconut “tiger’s milk” and herb oil.
