Wee Ee Cheong

A career banker, Wee Ee Cheong is the custodian of the family business

Wee Ee Cheong has over four decades of experience in the financial sector. The banking veteran joined UOB in 1979, and fulfilled the roles of president and deputy chairman of the bank from 2000 to 2007. He was appointed CEO in April 2007, and is a member of the executive and board risk management committees.

Wee is also chairman of UOB (China) and president commissioner of PT Bank UOB Indonesia. In addition, he is a board member in several UOB subsidiaries, including United Overseas Bank (China) (Chairman), United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company (Chairman) and United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) (Deputy Chairman).

Engaged in industry and community advancement, Wee sits as the vice chairman of The Institute of Banking and Finance and is also a council member of The Association of Banks in Singapore.

Banking aside, Wee is a keen lover of arts and serves as the patron of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and a director of the Wee Foundation.
