Financial industry veteran Wee Ee-chao has been closely involved in the growth of UOB-Kay Hian for four decades. The holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from American University joined Kay Hian & Co in 1981 as managing director, and was appointed chairman of Kay Hian Holdings 15 years later. He was named chairman of UOB-Kay Hian Holdings when the latter was formed following the merger of UOB Securities and Kay Hian Holdings in 2000.

UOB-Kay Hian Holdings is a holding company that provides margin financing, investment trading, stock and futures broking, research activities and nominee services through its subsidiaries, to clients globally.

Occupying a board position on the family-owned real estate developer, UOL Group, Wee is involved in investment and real estate development in the region. He is also a board member of Haw Par Corporation, and a director of real estate developer Kheng Leong Co and investment management firm Wee Investment Group. Wee served as chairman of the Singapore Tourism Board from 2002 to 2004, and was also the first vice-president of the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore from 2005 to 2006, and was a committee member up to 2010.
