Managing Director Teo Siong Seng makes waves in the shipping industry, heading Pacific International Lines—a family-owned business since 1967

The Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Pacific International Lines (PIL), Teo Siong Seng took his company’s container shipping business beyond southern Asia to China, the Middle East, East Africa, Europe and North America. Founded in 1967 by his father Chang Yun Chung, it has a presence in more than 100 countries.

Teo is also Chairman and CEO of PIL’s listed subsidiary, Singamas Container Holdings, and holds executive directorships at several PIL subsidiaries and joint-venture companies involved in ship owning, liner shipping, ship agencies, shipping funds, freight forwarding, container manufacturing, ship recycling, oil and gas, container depot/terminal operation, warehousing, logistics centre, real estate and travel.

Teo, who has an honours degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the University of Glasgow, has held positions in numerous organisations. They include the Singapore Business Federation, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Future Economic Commission, Singapore Shipping Association, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, and the China Overseas Exchange Association in Beijing. He represented the business community as a Nominated Member of Parliament from 2009-2014.

Teo was awarded the Public Service Medal and Public Service Star at the Singapore National Day Awards in 2010 and 2019 respectively.
