Chairman, The Garcha Group Hotel Collection
Satinder Garcha is the founder and chairman of The Garcha Group Hotel Collection, a chain of luxury boutique establishments in Singapore and Chile built on old-world hospitality and extraordinary aesthetics. His wife, Harpreet Bedi, is CEO of the firm and focuses on overseeing the daily operations of the group’s hotels.
Garcha started out as one of the first dotcom pioneers, co-founding People.com in 1995. After selling the business, the graduate of the USA’s University of Texas at Austin made his way to Singapore. He launched his first luxury boutique hotel, The Vagabond Club, in 2016 in Syed Alwi Road. With interiors crafted by French interior designer Jacques Garcia, the scarlet bolthole captured the imagination with its elegant yet boldly hued aesthetic.
The Six Senses Duxton followed in 2018, marking the brand’s debut in a city as well as in Singapore. The group’s Duxton and Maxwell properties were recently rebranded Duxton Reserve, Autograph Collection and Maxwell Reserve, Autograph Collection respectively, under Marriott Hotels. Claremont Hotel will be re-named Serangoon House and be part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, with an opening scheduled for the second quarter of 2022. All four Singapore establishments will be managed by Garcha Group under a franchise agreement with Marriott.
In a nod to his heritage, Garcha also directed Under the Turban, a 2016 documentary exploring the roots of Sikhism and Sikh identity.
