Lim Eng Hwee is chief executive of Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), where he leads the statutory board in its efforts to organise the physical development of Singapore in a sustainable fashion. Lim has more than three decades’ experience in the implementation of land-use policies, development initiatives, urban design and urban planning.

Before he was appointed CEO, Lim was chief planner and deputy chief executive at the URA. The holder of a planning degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Master’s in public administration from Harvard University, among other achievements Lim played a key part in the master planning of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. The business district, established in 1994, is located in Jiangsu province and has attracted global firms such as Siemens, Bosch, Philips, and Johnson & Johnson.

Lim’s past experience also includes appointments as deputy director for manufacturing and technology at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of National Development. He currently sits on the board of Science Centre Singapore and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.
