Lee Hsien Loong is the Prime Minister of Singapore and the secretary-general of the ruling People’s Action Party. He is married to Ho Ching, board member and chairman-designate of Temasek Trust, and former chief executive of sovereign state fund Temasek Holdings.

Lee is the eldest son of Singapore’s first prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew. He graduated with a mathematics degree and a diploma in computer science from the University of Cambridge, UK and also earned a Master’s in Public Administration as a Mason Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School. He joined the Singapore Armed Forces, attaining the rank of brigadier-general before entering politics in 1984. He subsequently held various ministerial appointments such as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Finance, and Minister for Trade and Industry.

Lee’s achievements as Prime Minister include the Smart Nation initiative, which harnesses technology to enhance the standard of living and build stronger communities, and fosters upskilling and lifelong learning with the SkillsFuture programme.

He is also chairman of the Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, as well as chairing the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council, which provides strategic direction for Singapore’s research and development efforts.

This year, Lee announced that Finance Minister Lawrence Wong was promoted to Deputy Prime Minister on June 13. This means that Wong will be the Acting Prime Minister in the absence of Lee.
