The managing director of GK Goh Holdings is a savvy investor and lover of the arts

Goh Yew Lin is the managing director of GK Goh Holdings, a public-listed investment company with a portfolio that incorporates aged-care businesses in Australia and Singapore, a real estate investment trust in Japan, and fibre optic networks in Europe. The SGX-listed firm underwent a corporate change after the sale of its stockbroking businesses in 2005, following which it adopted its current remit.

Goh is the holder of a Bachelor of Science (Economics) degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and has over 20 years of experience as a stockbroker. The music-loving Goh was appointed as a director of the Singapore Symphonia Company in 1990; he is the current chairman of the board. He was founding chairman of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, and stepped down from his post in September 2018 after 16 years. Goh also served as deputy chairman of the National Arts Council for six years, from 2013.

He is presently a non-executive director of Temasek Holdings, and chairman of Temasek subsidiary SeaTown Holdings. He assumed the role of chairman of the Duke-NUS governing board in October 2019.

Goh once played a recital as an amateur pianist to raise funds for repairs to the Victoria Concert Hall. He also penned his own column as a classical music critic for The Straits Times from 1980 to 1997.
