Chairman, Agency for Integrated Care
An advocate for social-service rights and issues in Singapore, Gerard Ee chairs the Agency for Integrated Care
Gerard Ee is a social-services veteran and the son of the late Dr Ee Peng Liang, founder of the Community Chest and Singapore’s “father of charity”. The former accountant and politician is chairman of the Agency for Integrated Care, where he works towards coordinating the delivery of aged-care services.
Ee discovered his love for charity when he was tasked by his father to help out with logistical matters on a Community Chest television show, and chatting with the people involved with the production sparked a desire to help the less fortunate. He went on to spend 30 years working in social services in various roles and also served on committees in areas involving juvenile delinquency, people with disabilities and health-related services.
Ee was also a past chairman of the National Kidney Foundation, where he helped to conduct a full audit of the organisation’s practices to rebuild public trust, which had been shaken by a corruption controversy in 2005.
