Euleen Goh is a trailblazer for women corporates
Euleen Goh is a woman of many feats. After she made the headlines as the first Singaporean to head Standard Chartered Bank’s sales, corporate and institutional banking business in 1999, similar accomplishments weren’t too far off on the horizon. She was subsequently named chief executive of the British bank’s Singapore office in 2001, becoming Standard Chartered’s second Asian female chief executive.
The Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame 2014 inductee also became the first woman to be appointed to the board of Singapore Airlines in 2006, and was one of two women added to the board of directors at Royal Dutch Shell eight years later. Incidentally, she was the first Asian and the first Singaporean to sit on the board of the oil conglomerate. In 2018, she made history again by becoming the first female chair of the Singapore Institute of Management’s governing council.
Currently, Goh is the chairperson of the board of directors of the non-profit DBS Foundation, which focuses on the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts in Asia.
