Eugene Yong

Executive director, Woh Hup

Eugene Yong is the third-generation leader of award-winning construction business Woh Hup

Eugene Yong is executive director of family-operated construction firm Woh Hup, the company behind iconic Singaporean buildings such as Jewel Changi Airport, Gardens by the Bay, Great World City, Lau Pa Sat and Golden Mile Complex. Founded in 1927 by Yong’s grandfather, Yong Yit Lin, the award-winning company has played a significant role in delivering large-scale construction projects and instantly recognisable structures through the decades.

In a cluttered construction landscape, Woh Hup has notably clinched several accolades for its projects. These include over 60 Building and Construction Authority (BCA) awards for construction excellence, over 30 Green Mark awards for environmental sustainability efforts, and over 340 safety awards.

The firm also believes in giving back. It established the Woh Hup Trust, of which Yong is chairman, in 2011 to support the social integration of the elderly and underprivileged children. Woh Hup also marked its 90th anniversary by making a donation of SG$1.5 million to the 2017 President’s Challenge charity event.
