Professor Aung Tin is a senior consultant in the Glaucoma Department and deputy medical director for research at the Singapore National Eye Centre, and executive director of the Singapore Eye Research Institute. He has more than 600 published articles in 15 major journals and papers such as Nature Genetics and The Lancet to his name, and also secured more than SG$20 million in competitive research grant funding to date.

Prof Aung is also a full tenured professor with the department of ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He takes an active interest in the education of undergraduates and postgraduates, and is a mentor to students, trainees and research fellows in fields such as glaucoma and translational research.

Prof Aung is often invited to speak at international medical meets, and sits on the editorial board of various journals such as Ophthalmology, Progress in Retinal and Eye Research and the Journal of Glaucoma. His past roles include president of the World Glaucoma Association, president of the College of Ophthalmologists of Singapore and president of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology.
