There’s a crying baby two seats away from me...

Sophie says: “Put on an eye mask, plug in your earphones and listen to some songs to drown out the noise. My favourite is Adele’s One and Only. Pull out a roller ball and apply some essential oil on your pulse points or simply take a deep breath to relax yourself. Oh, and pray hard that the parents will calm the baby down, stat.”

I have an important post-flight meeting...

Sophie says: “Before you land, go through your usual skin care routine. When I’m on the plane, I’ll always remove my make-up with cleansing wipes; they’re conveniently packed in individual sachets so there’s no need to bring small bottles of cleansers and make-up removers. Depending on the flight duration, I’ll apply one or two face masks to keep my skin hydrated. Afterwards, I’ll spray a face mist before applying my make-up. Doing all these helps distract my mind and take away the stress from being up in the air too.”

I’m on a 16-hour flight from Singapore to San Francisco...

Sophie says: “Take your time to read a book, watch a couple of comedies such as Pitch Perfect, paint your nails, have some wine and try to take multiple naps. Make sure you time your last one just right so you have time before landing to put on your make-up.”

My skin turns dry easily when I’m on board...

Sophie says: “We all know that the air in the plane cabins can zap out the skin’s natural moisture quickly so always bring along a hydrating moisturiser to balance the water level in your skin.”

I’m visiting Vienna for winter. What beauty products should I pack?

Sophie says: “Make sure you bring a ‘heavier’ face moisturiser because the cold weather will dry your skin out. For make-up, go for darker or more autumn/winter appropriate shades instead of the bright colours. Your hair will also struggle with hydration so pick products that can make your strands look smooth and glossy. When your body gets dry in the winter, apply a body oil to banish roughness.”

I’m heading to Sydney during summer. How can I survive the heat and humidity?

Sophie says: “Without a doubt, remember your SPF! Also, switch to mattifying products and opt for a lightweight moisturiser instead of oil. Since humidity can cause make-up to slide off your face easily, remember to use a finishing powder.”
