June 12 is Global Wellness Day— it's high time to prioritise your well-being starting with giving yourself a proper break

Months of being cooped up at home and not being able to travel freely surely has its negative effects, especially as many of us who live in Singapore love to get away. Remember those last-minute weekend jaunts to Phuket or Bali? Those were good times.

One silver lining of the pandemic, however, is that we now have deeper conversations about mental health. With the likes of Prince Harry and Naomi Osaka openly sharing their struggles with anxiety, it’s easier for each of us to recognise when we are struggling and do something about it.

Brompton Adventures at Capella Singapore

Tatler Asia

A staycation at the Capella (or a petcation if you wish) remains one of the best ways to reset in Singapore. One can easily detach from daily life by swimming in their tiered pools, walking around the verdant grounds (keep your eyes peeled for the resident peacocks), or by plainly enjoying the luxurious surrounds and attentive service.

Their newest offering allows guests to venture further afield and explore the cycling trails in Sentosa with a Brompton bicycle—an activity that helps improve your physical and mental well-being. This beachside ride will convince you that you’re on holiday: Start from the dog-filled shores of Tanjong Beach, cycle past Palawan Beach and the historic pillboxes from WWII, and go all the way to Siloso Beach and stop at Hokkaido’s Baristart Coffee, which offers 1-for-1 lattes for Capella x Brompton guests. Then pedal uphill back to your villa, where you can enjoy the chef’s special selection of tapas and drinks post-ride.

The Brompton Adventures staycation package is available until 31 August 2021. Visit Capella Hotels to book and for more information.

The Hyatt brand operates on the mantra of “caring for people so they can be their best” and this latest staycation package builds on the other wellness partnerships they’ve put in place, notably a global collaboration with Headspace to help guests get into the meditation groove.

Grand Hyatt Singapore partnered with Kydra, a popular activewear brand in the city, to create a two-day wellness retreat that features guided tai chi, sound therapy classes, a fitness workout and workout set by Kydra, a nutrition class by Charlotte Mei, an hour massage at the Damai Spa as well as healthy menus at the hotel’s dining outlets Oasis and Mezza9. The focus of the programme is to help guests to learn mindfulness, a practice that everyone will be happy to take home with them.

The Recharge Retreat is set on selected dates until the end of July 2021, with limited spots available. Visit Grand Hyatt Singapore to book and for more information.

Re: Qi Retreat by Cultured Gen

Cultured Gen is a local company focusing on creating thematic experiences and it has been actively crafting wellness retreats under their Re:Qi brand, which champions ancient healing techniques from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda.

In August, they’re launching a two-day, one-night “Urban Revival”, which explores the intersection of culture and wellness and provides personalised menus based on guests’ body constitution. The second edition of the “Nature Getaway” retreat starts in September, which focuses on fully disconnecting from city life and offers a transformative journey of being one with nature. One to book is The Fullerton Hotel’s Suite Indulgence package, which includes having a loft suite to yourself for half a day, an hour’s access to the infinity pool, and a four-course dinner to savour as you take in the stunning view of Marina Bay. Day Spa Journeys at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore

One of the simplest ways to treat yourself is doing a spa day, a time when your tired body can finally get some much-needed pampering and your anxious mind a real break. Try out The Ritz-Carlton Spa, which is one of the first La Mer hotel spas in the region.

Splurge and choose the spa suite, a heavenly room where you can enjoy unique treatments such as Cello Concerto, a massage synchronized to the music of a live cellist. You can also plan a spa party with your family or close friends at this intimate space. While treatments such as facials are not available due to current restrictions, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an equally invigorating treatment such as the Hot Lapis Stone Massage, one of the most popular picks on the Ritz-Carlton spa menu.

Visit The Ritz-Carlton Millenia for more information.
