When an adventure-seeker and a conservative-at-heart come together, sparks fly!

The Couple

A professional in the healthcare sector whose family is in the shipping and warehousing business, Harumi Ochi was introduced to Indonesian-born Herry Limanto, who works for a family-owned business mining natural resources, eight years ago at a friend’s farewell party here. While she’s conservative at heart, he came across as a free-spirited, thrill-seeking young man, but fate had its way of bringing this very different pair together. Most of their dates revolved around island getaways, and it was on a trip to Paris, while on a romantic stroll across the pont de Bir-Hakeim, that Herry proposed.

You’re Invited!

Hinting at the luxurious celebration that awaited, the invitation card was dressed in maroon velvet with opulent gold embossing.

Venue Of Choice

The bride’s mother picked the Grand Ballroom of Capella Singapore for the couple’s solemnisation ceremony on September 3, 2016. “We wanted some place quiet and private, away from the hustle of the city,” Harumi says.

Pink Parade

Like a blushing young lady, the venue was decked out with luscious blooms in rosy hues. This was beautifully set off with gold touches in the table cloths and tableware.

A Large But Close-Knit Affair

The solemnisation ceremony was attended by 300 of the couple’s closest family and friends, including Iroshini Chua, Frances Low, Tan Khar Nai and the bride’s cousin-in-law, Nina Ng.

Pretty As A Princess

Opting to wear her hair in a sleek, straight style for the solemnisation ceremony, the bride needed nothing more than this gorgeous customised tiara by Indonesian designer Rinaldy A Yunardi, which exuded a charming air.

Layers Of Lace

Indulging her love for lace, the bride’s wedding trousseau included eight couture gowns from top designers in Asia and the rest of the world including Paolo Sebastian, Hian Tjen and Yolan Cris. They were accessorised with jewellery from her personal collection as well as from private jewellers including Iroshini Chua’s father and Flower Diamond.

A Head For Style

Herry’s wardrobe included pieces form Augus Lim, Hermès, Tom Ford, Bally and Louboutin. He channelled vintage style with this tailcoat-tophat-walking cane combination.

The Bali Connection

It was seven years ago that the pair first became an item while holidaying in Bali together. So it was only fitting that their journey as newlyweds began with a celebratory weekend wedding in Bali, at Alila Villas Uluwatu on October 15 and 16, 2016. The celebration was attended by 500 guests.

The Ceremonial Stage

Set up outdoors, against picture-perfect views of the Indian Ocean, the ceremonial stage was dressed with a floral arch adorned with dainty pink flowers.

Family Traditions

As the bride is of Japanese and Chinese heritage, Shinto rites and a Chinese tea ceremony were part of the wedding weekend celebration in Bali. For the tea ceremony in Bali, she wore a stunning customised red cheongsam from The Proposal.

Dance Class

The couple’s nifty footwork was the result of private lessons by a professional dance instructor who choreographed their dance. Harumi’s deep blue gown was from Spanish designer Isabel Sanchis.

Smooth Sounds

The bride’s father displayed his musical flair and love for his daughter with his performance on the saxophone. Other entertainment was by Compass (Singapore) and La Puja band (Bali).

Romancing The Rose

The pink colour theme continued in the bridesmaids’ frocks and posies, while the bride held a dramatic red bouquet.

Something Blue

The groomsmen donned light blue bowties and received whiskey flasks with their names engraved on them.

Indonesian fire dancers set the evening ablaze with their skill and grace.

  … And Ice

This dragon ice carving kept cocktails suitably chilled at the after-party.

Spectacle In The Sky

Fireworks lit up the night sky at the precise moment the newlyweds shared a kiss.
