How To Spend The Most Luxurious F1 Weekend

September 7, 2017 | BY Chloe Pek

Your Tatler-worthy Grand Prix experience, sorted.

Back for its ninth run since the inaugural night race in 2008, the city is bustling with excitement for the Singapore Grand Prix. With Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) neck-to-neck at their current standings, the Singapore leg of Formula One (F1) is undoubtedly one to watch. And then there are the headlining acts like Ariana Grande, Calvin Harris, The Chainsmokers, and OneRepublic.

But of course, we're not about jostling through the crowd in the grandstands; we do it in style: here's the Tatler-approved guide to getting the best out of the Grand Prix weekend.

Friday, September 15

Check in to The Ritz-Carlton
Kickstart your F1 weekend by checking into the Ritz Suite at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. With its favourable trackside location, you can enjoy a panorama of the race action without even leaving your room. Spanning 219 square meters on the highest floor of the five-star hotel, the luxury suite features a spacious living space, dining area, entertainment room, a master bedroom with walk-in closet, as well as a marbled bathroom boasting an uninterrupted view of the city skyline. A 24-hour personalised butler service ensures your needs and concerns are always addressed.

Enjoy a three-hour spa
If the practice sessions are not on your agenda, head down to the Ritz-Carlton Spa to wind down and relax with a three-hour spa package. One of our favourite offerings from the spa is the signature Cello Concerto—a body massage synchronised with a live cello performance, Hot Lapis Stone Massage, and The La Mer’s Miracle Broth™ Facial.

Limousine service to the Apex Lounge
You don’t have to wait till the Grand Prix ends to party. Get chauffeured to the Apex Lounge, courtesy of The Ritz-Carlton Club. The industrial-themed duplex at the Pit Straight treads the fine line between a lounge and a club. With live DJ sets, live food stations, an open bar of champagne, wine, spirits and beverages and dedicated mixologists serving up signature cocktails, enjoy the view from the extensive floor to ceiling windows of the spacious lounge or the private viewing gallery. The Apex Lounge package also grants you access to all zones, including the F1 circuit.

Sip on cocktail at a rooftop bar
End the night with a creative concoction from Smoke & Mirrors. Located atop National Gallery Singapore, enjoy the sights of Marina Bay and its race tracks as you sip on Bacardi Martini cocktails and wines, available exclusively for the Grand Prix season. Indoor lounge entry includes three complimentary drinks from a selection of house wine, draft beer, Lanson champagne and Aperol Spumante cocktails. For the best seats in the house however, opt for outdoor terrace tables, which brings you closer to the excitement.

Saturday, September 16

Brunch at the Summer Pavilion
Sleep in on Saturday and fuel up at The Ritz-Carlton’s one-star Michelin restaurant, serving up a menu of contemporary Cantonese cuisine curated and crafted by chef Cheung Siu Kong. Nibble on the restaurant’s exquisite dim sum selections within the glass pavilion, surrounded by a manicured Chinese garden. Be sure to try the abalone, conpoy and mushroom dumpling in clear broth, and pan-fried shredded yam and pumpkin.

F1® Simulator at Post Bar
Book a limo ride to Post Bar at The Fullerton Hotel and then get back behind the wheel at the pop-up F1® Simulator. Experience the thrill and adventure of helming the wheel and challenge other racers for the fastest record. An hour of unlimited racing comes with champagne and snacks for eight. You can also watch the Grand Prix live from the towering projector screens, over craft beers and Asian tapas.

Catch the race from the Sky Suite
Located along the Pit Straight and Turn 1, catch the Grand Prix at the Sky Suite’s air-conditioned lounges or rooftop Sky Terrace, which gives you extensive views of the race as it happens. Stay in on the action even as you dine, with gourmet offerings, refreshments, and an open bar of beverages, wines, and spirits served at the glass-fronted dining suites. Just in case you don’t have a good view from your table, the lounges are also fitted with television screens, broadcasting the race to you live. The Sky Suite package offers access to Zones 1, 2, 3, and 4, where you can join in the post-race festivities and concerts.

Enjoy performances by Ariana Grande and The Chainsmokers
Headlining acts international star Ariana Grande and EDM-pop duo The Chainsmokers take the Padang Stage on Saturday night, located at Zone 4. Catch Ariana Grande from 8pm to 9pm, followed by The Chainsmokers at 10:15pm, after the Formula One qualifying session.

Podium Lounge
After an adrenaline-fuelled day, head to the Podium Lounge after-party, which returns to The Ritz-Carlton for its ninth edition in Singapore. The stately Grand Ballroom gets a glitzy makeover into a party haven, with a skywalk runway to boot. Former Ferrari F1 driver turned DJ, Giancarlo Fisichella, will be entertaining guests with E! News Asia host Maria Rahajeng (Miss Universe Indonesia 2014). Grammy Award rapper Coolio will make his Singapore debut with his band.

Sunday, September 17

F1 Vintage Champagne Brunch at Colony
Savour an epicurean champagne brunch at The Ritz-Carlton’s Colony, where you can observe culinary showmanship on display through the seven conservatory kitchens. From Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Malaysian, Western, to familiar local dishes, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Enjoy a free flow of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006 Champagne with your meal.

Limousine service to The Formula One Paddock Club™

The Paddock Club offers a world-class Formula One experience with access to the dedicated grandstand and all zones, including Zone 1’s F1 village, and the Paddock Club Lifestyle Area where you can enjoy live entertainment, bars and a spa.

Watch the pit crew at work
With a glass-fronted suite overlooking the garages, starting grid and paddock, watch the pit crew at work from 3:15pm, when the second race for Ferrari Challenge begins. In between races, gain complimentary access to the pit lanes, where you can mingle with your favourite drivers and get an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience of the Grand Prix. When you need a break from the excitement, retreat to the glass-fronted Paddock Club suite and continue with a free flow of champagne and wine.

Amber Lounge
With its reputation as the party to be seen at, Amber Lounge is synonymous with F1. The roving after-party has marked its presence in Abu Dhabi, Monaco, Mexico, and Singapore with its repertoire of live entertainment from international artistes and DJs, and show-stopping fashion runways. For the last night of the Grand Prix weekend, head down to Temasek Reflection, which transforms into an exclusive lounge for the Sunday GP After Party. Of course, the F1 drivers and their teams will be on the dance-floor—send them flutes of congratulatory champagne and dance the night away.
