October 03, 2019
Vote for your favourite project in the new Readers’ Choice categories, launched as part of the upcoming Tatler Design Awards 2020

The annual Tatler Design Awards aims to place the spotlight on luxury residential projects by local architecture and design firms while celebrating the achievements of these homegrown practices. These stellar projects showcase the ingenuity of these creative talents; our Design Project of the Year and Best Showroom accolades will also honour notable commercial projects and developments in Singapore.

Now into its fourth edition, the annual event by Singapore Tatler Homes will include for the first time, three categories as part of a new Readers’ Choice segment. The winning entries will be partially decided by popular vote; a panel of jury members will also contribute to the selection of winners.

Ahead of the awards ceremony that will be held in February 2020, we unveil the shortlisted entries for the Best Bespoke Concept category. Designed to match the unique requirements of the brief, these design firms have crafted inviting interiors that combine impeccable style with functional elements custom-made for each project.

The other two categories are the Best Living Room Concept and the Best Luxury Concept.

The winners will be announced in the February 2020 issue of Singapore Tatler Homes; online voting will close on November 11. Scroll through the nominated entries here and vote for your favourite project in the form below:

Whitley Residences Show Unit by 2nd Edition

The work of interior design firm 2nd Edition, this show unit in Whitley Residences is governed by a contemporary style that is timeless and tasteful. The house epitomises luxury living through a palette of book-matched white marble, ebony veneer panelling, brass inlays and textured wall coverings used throughout to create a tranquil and sophisticated atmosphere. Detailing is immaculate; the composition of materials, colours, and forms conveys the firm’s ability to craft a cohesive look with a human touch.

The Art house Penthouse by Design Intervention

Home to a family of five, this penthouse apartment is filled with a lifetime’s worth of lovingly curated treasures and artworks. The homeowners gave Design Intervention free rein to design a warm and friendly space that would integrate their precious collections; including the husband's extensive collection of vintage wines and hand-crafted knives. Based on the mantra of “less is more”, Design Intervention used a minimal number of furniture pieces in warm, soothing tones to offset the exuberance of the surrounding art.

UE Square Residences Apartment by Design Rebirth

This modern apartment by Design Rebirth conveys effortless style. The firm gave the home a major interior overhaul to improve its spatial planning while creating a cosy environment for a young family. The studio also created another room hidden behind the wall panelling in the living area. This wall feature also serves multiple functions: it houses the built-in TV console as well as storage space, while functioning as a sliding door that leads to the other bedrooms. To complement the streamlined look, the team selected an off-white palette with black detailing; wood strips also add visual interest to the spacious living area.

D’Leedon Enclave Apartment by KGID

Designed by KGID, the designers created an open-plan layout to create spacious entertaining areas for the couple's frequent gatherings. To create a love nest, KGID converted the other bedrooms into multi-functional spaces to suit the couple’s needs; the firm also removed the wall between the living room and kitchen to create a social hub for the couple to entertain their friends. The master bedroom features an edgy bathroom inspired by the look of luxury hotel suites.

Waterfront Apartment by Mr Shopper Studio

This tropical-style home was specially designed to suit the needs of a couple and their feline friend. To fulfil the owners’ request for tropical accents within the home, the apartment features several botanically-inspired features. The designers also opted for a lively mix of burnt oranges and somber greys to anchor the home’s aesthetic, while adding cat-friendly details to make the home a space—humans and feline alike—to call their own.
