We take a look at some of the hottest chairs and sofas to look out for at the 53rd edition of Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano

Europe's biggest annual design event has finally arrived, as all eyes turn to Milan to see what the momentous Salone del Mobile fair and Milan Design Week will offer this year. We take a look at some of the hottest chairs and sofas to look out for at the 53rd edition of the show.

1. Cap Chair 2 by Jasper Morrison for Cappellini

A follow-up to the Cap Chair unveiled at Salone in 2013, Cap Chair 2 by Jasper Morrison for Cappellini is fully covered and upholstered in leather. Lower than its predecessor, it features a simplicity in its lines and materials that make it an elegant and classic but contemporary piece.

2. Print-Chair by Nendo

Japanese design studio Nendo has created a series of chairs featuring printed wood grain patterns overlaid onto a wooden base for a surreal double-layered wooden aesthetic. Some of the seats feature layered patterns, while others use enlarged, abstracted patterns applied onto the existing surface.

5. Le Corbusier by Cassina

Cassina has unveiled its new LC5 sofa, a re-edition of the design by the famous Le Corbusier, created with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand for the living room of his Parisian apartment in 1934. The latest version has been redeveloped with new finishes, larger proportions and a more comfortable feather-cushioned seat.
