These stylish, high-tech ceiling fans from homegrown brand Spin are a perfect fit for modern abodes

In 2008, homegrown fan specialist Spin turned the traditional notion of the ceiling fan on its head, introducing new cooling concepts that were a breath of fresh air with their minimalist designs and innovative technology. Its fans impressed homeowners with their sleek lines and whisper-quiet operation, and soon made their way into various luxury residential developments across Singapore.

The brand’s flagship offering is the bestselling Signature series, which sports three aerodynamic blades in four finishes—caramel-hued Japanese wood; walnut-grain veneer; pearl white; and matte black—to suit any décor scheme.

As for the Timber range, the three options boast an undeniably rustic charm that will complement any abode with natural wood elements, while the Onix line is a great fit for larger homes, especially with nine air foils that span up to 84 inches.

Inside the attractive shell of every Spin fan—which is almost like a work of art in itself—beats its heart: a durable, silent Ultra Dynamic DC motor that is up to 70 per cent more energy efficient than the conventional AC motor.

What is the Spin brand promise?

We take after-sales customer care seriously, and are always on hand to support our customers. We want our clients to enjoy peace of mind while keeping their loved ones cool.

Who are your target consumers?

JT Stylish homeowners, architects and interior designers who are seeking aesthetically strong yet functional pieces for their houses and interior projects. We are also looking at widening our customer base to give more property owners a wider range of choices for their cooling needs.

Tell us more about the technology in your fans.

JT The air foils are fixed at the optimal angle for each fan's diameter for the best wind distribution. Our Ultra Dynamic DC motor is a trademarked innovation we have been improving over the years with newer technology, making it even quieter and more durable. We will also be introducing smart-home capabilities in most of our ceiling fans this year. Customers will be able to control them via a mobile app, and never have to hunt for the remote again!

Do you plan to build on your current product range?

JT We will be introducing a new range of fans with even better wind flow. These fans will sport a new design, but still maintain the aesthetic that Spin is known for. We intend to stick to our four signature colours, as they have been well received by homeowners.

Tell us more about your new showroom.

JT We crafted a number of interior settings at our office at T-Space in Tampines to showcase our fans in a real-world environment. Most variations of our fans are displayed here, providing customers with an experiential space to see and experience the products in person.

How has the pandemic impacted your business? What are the firm’s future plans?

JT Covid-19 has undeniably changed the way we function and reach our customers. Thankfully, we managed to launch our e-commerce website during these challenging times. We’ve also been exploring digital and social media to broaden our exposure. Looking forward, we hope to continue fulfilling the Spin brand promise, and serving our customers and business partners with passion. We also intend to open the market further with new products and expand Spin into the region.
