Come 1 July, the Marina Bay Golf Course will unveil its par 6, the first of its kind in Singapore. The upgrade is part of the course’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

The tee box measures 651m to the hole, making it the island’s longest hole. While it doesn’t quite compare to the longest hole in the world (Gunsan Country Club in South Korea is said to have that honour with its 1,004-m par 7), this par 6 has its challenges. As the newly extended fairway doglegs to the right, golfers will encounter an obscured green from the location of their second shot. Long hitters will also have to overcome the pond and trees to the right of the narrowing fairway.

The Marina Bay Golf Course, designed by Phil Jacobs, is the only 18-hole course open to the public, and has won its share of accolades, including “Best Public Golf Course in Asia Pacific” at the 2015 Asian Golf Awards.

This won’t be the last of the course’s upgrades, as renovations will continue at the driving range and they’ll also be introducing premier services and flexible tee time bookings.
