Racing enthusiasts get ready; the Singapore International Racing Festival is back bigger than ever, amped up with a music festival and much more.

Singapore will once again be roused up by the sound of hooves on the ground and sheer excitement in the air, as international and local racing fans gather for the Singapore International Racing Festival (SIRF).

The two International Group One races – the coveted Singapore Airlines International Cup (SIA Cup) and KrisFlyer International Sprint (KFIS) – may happen only on 17 May, but there’s already activities aplenty going on, starting tomorrow, 23 April.

Getting things started are the roadshows happening at One Raffles Place and ION Orchard, where you’ll be able to get your hands on SIRF premiums, and take a shot at the fun horseshoe pitching competition. The Singapore Turf Club has even made it possible to do your part for charity, where for a nominal fee, those who have never tried riding can now have a go on a horse riding simulator – the very same one that’s used to train jockeys in their riding capabilities. The proceeds, together with those from the sale of caps will be donated to Melrose Home (managed by Children’s Aid Society).

Riding along with Singapore’s jubilee birthday celebrations this year, Singapore Turf Club has also whipped up the SG50 Music Festival to be held at Kranji racecourse’s Parade Ring on 25 April. The evening will be lit up with performances by local acts, Douglas O and The Band, Jive Talkin’, Jack & Rai, Ugly in the Morning and more, festival tickets given with compliments to the public. Whether you are headed for the music festival or setting your sights on the races, here’s a fantastic chance to round up your friends for a time of fun and horseracing extravaganza.
