Prestige Global Designs transformed a property by the park into a dream home made for family bonding

Located by the river and next to a park in northeastern Singapore, this two-storey abode looks out to verdant views. Home to a family of three, the strata terrace house is part of a large condominium development that draws influences from its proximity to the sea.

The owners wanted a dwelling that embodies the concept of modern luxury, while maximising the use of the 1,625sqft floorplan with versatile spaces that promote family bonding. To do that, the couple was open to some unusual ideas for their three-bedroom property, such as having a master bedroom that’s shared by them and their son, as well as the creation of a fourth bedroom that can be merged with the living room during parties.

They approached Prestige Global Designs to redesign their abode with these requirements, entrusting the finer details to the firm. Led by co-founders Michael Ong and Jeremy Tay, the team skillfully completed an impressive makeover in four months, crafting a stunning sanctuary for the family.

To ensure the creation of adaptable spaces, the firm designed ingenious partitions that can expand or delineate various areas when needed. This includes a bronze-tinted swivel door at the kitchen, which can be shut to contain the cooking fumes during meal preparation. In the living room, the dark wood wall feature incorporates a TV console, display shelves, and sliding doors that connect to the fourth bedroom, which also functions as a reading lounge.

In the master bedroom, sliding doors carve out two separate zones for the parents and their son. A platform bed also creates a multifunctional space for the son, separating the desk area from his bed. Other thoughtful details include a pair of pendant lights that frees up space on the bedside tables for the parents.

The studio looked to nature for inspiration, designing cosy alcoves that encourage the family to enjoy the outdoor views. The balcony functions as a secondary dining area; it is also the family’s preferred breakfast nook. The family room, located on level two, is another calming corner. It features a bar counter where the couple enjoy glasses of wine after a long day at work.

The earthy palette is animated with pops of blue and green that take cues from the park views. These vibrant pieces add visual interest to various rooms while continuing the nature-influenced theme throughout the home.

Mirrored panels, glossy surfaces and other light-catching details make the house appear more spacious, while the use of brushed metal trimmings on the furnishings and dark wood cabinetry contribute to the handsome look of the interior. The final result conveys both opulence and comfort—a beautiful space that the family is now proud to call home.
