(Relaxnews) - British creativity will be under the spotlight at the second edition of Singapore Design Week (SDW), set to kick off this March.

"New British Inventors: Inside Heatherwick Studio", is a new exhibition showcasing up to 110 design works by the studio of renowned British designer Thomas Heatherwick. Presented by the British Council in collaboration with the GREAT Britain Campaign and the Design Singapore Council, SDW is the exhibit's first stop on a tour across Asia, providing a platform for the Singapore design community to learn about design trends in the UK.

Additional highlights will include "Fifty Years of Singapore Design", an exhibit paying tribute to Singapore's 50 years of independence. The show will explore the emergence of Singapore as a design hub over the last five decades, looking at visual communications, product and industrial, fashion and accessories, and environmental design.

More than 200 artifacts, some loaned from personal collections, will be on display. Visitors will also pick up trivia about Singapore design, such as how Singapore conceived the design of the ubiquitous and sturdy plastic stools created specifically for local coffee shops.

Also on the agenda is the Singapore Design Business Summit, organized by the Design Business Chamber Singapore and featuring in-depth discussions about emerging trends of integrating design, business and technology. SDW's main anchor event, SingaPlural, which highlights the design process from concept to sale, will remain one of the principal attractions.

SDW runs from March 10-22. For more information see https://sdw.designsingapore.org/.
