The Danish design studio has joined forces with the home audio specialist to present a collection brightly coloured speakers.

It's time for speakers to come out of the shadows and go on display—especially if they happen to have been reworked by one of the hottest Danish design studios of the moment. HAY presented its colourful take on the Sonos One smart speaker at Palazzo Clerici, Milan, during the city's Design Week.

While Sonos usually sticks to subtle colours like black or white, the audio maker is exploring colour with HAY, which has reimagined its Sonos One speaker in shades of red, green and yellow

"Colour is one of the most important tools in the design process, and it was very important we didn't just create a colour scale that looked beautiful," said HAY co-founder and creative director Mette Hay. "Colours can hide completely and disappear or provide contrast. These speakers deserve to be treated like furniture: strong, independent objects that fit different needs and spaces."

The collection goes on sale in September, starting from €259, at sonos.com and in Sonos flagship stores in New York, London and Berlin, as well as at HAY House in Copenhagen.
