The Jester wine opener by Marcel Wanders

“I love how Wanders cleverly conceals the corkscrew’s functional parts and how the jester’s hat forms the handgrip,” says Alvin. This quirky piece expands with a flourish to remove the cork from the wine bottle.

Arflex Botolo chair by Cini Boeri, from Space Furniture

Alvin cites this chair design by the late architect Cini Boeri as another covetable classic. “Everything about this piece is fun and forward-thinking; there are wheels hidden in the tubular legs for easy movement,” he says.
