Check-In Ready
The Salone del Mobile in Milan is ever the treasure trove of design inspiration. At its 56th edition, Jaime Hayón’s Fritz Hotel was among the must-sees; he curated this exhibition for the Republic of Fritz Hansen, which is reassuringly more casual than conceptual. “The idea was to create a space for people to engage with the pieces and see them in context,” he explains.

Design Carousel 
Lee Broom is definitely one of the top contemporary design talents to know. The British designer celebrated the 10th anniversary of his eponymous brand with the Time Machine exhibition at Ventura Centrale in Milan. Housed in the abandoned warehouses at Via Ferrante Aporti, eight exhibitors including Broom made the most of the industrial setting. Placed at the centre of the vaulted space, a revolving white carousel showcased the designer’s lighting and furniture pieces.

Past, Present, Future
We reveled in the history of Cassina through the site-specific Cassina 9.0 installation at the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli during Milan Design Week. Styled with pieces from the brand’s most recent collections as well as iconic designs from its storied archives, the out-of-the-box exhibition explored the brand's evolution over the years as well as what the future might hold for domestic spaces. We profiled the craftsmanship and creative process of Cassina in the Artisan section of this month's issue.

Brilliant Gems
Peruse our edit of the biennial Euroluce showcase—highlights include this particular lighting collection for Flos by London-based designer Michael Anastassiades. Called Arrangements, the lighting sculpture is akin to minimalist jewellery.

Creative Craftsmanship
Look to brands such as Lasvit for a fresh spin on time-honoured techniques. The Czech brand continues to dazzle with its traditional glassmaking craftsmanship and the innovative ways it collaborates with the world’s leading designers and architecture firms. At this year’s Euroluce exhibition in Milan, Lasvit showcased some of such creative designs; stunning pieces include the Yakisugi collection by Kengo Kuma, which features a crackled effect made by imprinting scorched wood onto the molten glass surface.

Bold And Contemporary 
From Millennial Pink to Jungalow, these striking trends that transcend borders and generations are sure to show up on your Instagram feed. India Mahdavi, in particular, has been hailed as the new queen of colour—be inspired by how she uses colours in strikingly sensual ways, as seen here at the Ladurée boutique she had designed in the Four Season Hotel des Bergues, in Geneva.

Characterful Spaces

Seventies-inspired decor doesn’t have to look dated; these vintage touches can add much character to your home. Get decor inspiration from interior designer Caroline Legrand’s cream coloured abode in Ibiza. Her holiday home embodies worldly sophistication while bearing her unique personal style, by pairing vintage items with a Palm Springs feel and elegant details.
The Sky's The Limit
Explore clever new ways of configuring the spaces in your abode. This Nordic-inspired bungalow by Renaissance Planners & Designers in Singapore features a striking “sky bridge” that connects its living area on the second floor, which offers a unique overview of the entertainment zone at the ground floor.

Geometry Class
Style your spaces with these linear designs, which get a youthful boost with ingenious ideas and punchy hues. Top picks we love include the Visioni B rug, created by Patricia Urquiola for CC-Tapis.
Travel Inspiration
Designers too, look to their travels for inspiration. We look back at the highlights that stood out during the Singapore Design Week; including this collaborative collection by Nathan Yong for Ipse Ipsa Ipsum. Inspired by the architecture of India, these pieces feature graceful arches, hand-crafted materials as well as interchangeable accessories such as mirrors and side tables.
