Design project of the year presenter Flexform celebrates The Mill's accomplished feat of pairing classic style with timeless elegance.

At the Tatler Design Awards, Flexform is the presenter of the Design Project of the Year, and the accolade goes to The Mill Group—the design consortium’s commitment to craft and attention to detail form a creative ethos that similarly exemplifies the Italian furniture brand’s approach to design.

Photo 1 of 3 Designed as a creative space to foster interdisciplinary collaborations, the mixed-use compound serves as the headquarters of The Mill Group, and will include communal work and dining spaces as well as retail outlets.
Photo 2 of 3 In contrast to the building’s dark, dramatic facade, The Mill’s double-volume interior houses lofty spaces that drink in the light and pairs raw industrial-style fittings with polished furnishings to convey a modern elegance—a polished look that the collections of Flexform too, celebrate.
Photo 3 of 3 The project also marks the 20th anniversary of The I.D. Department, an interior firm under the group, as well as the evolution of the design consortium—three firms under the group will henceforth be known as The Mill Studios.

With nearly 60 years of history since its founding in Meda, Flexform produces collections that pair timeless styles with made-in-Italy craftsmanship, all the while conveying a quiet elegance that fits beautifully into myriad interior schemes.

The Flexform sofa systems form the core collections of the family-run business, with each piece an embodiment of tactile comfort, streamlined forms and thoughtful design. The Italian brand also works closely with the industry’s leading designers to craft its collections, including architects Antonio Citterio, Carlo Colombo and Daniel Libeskind. In fact, Citterio has worked closely with Flexform for 40 years as its creative director.

The Flexform Singapore flagship boutique, opened in August 2017, houses the newest collections and mainstays, with its Mood collection soon to follow. Every piece has been carefully curated within the 3,000sqft space to form inspiring tableaux for designers and homeowners, with Flexform furniture displayed alongside lighting pieces and accessories from brands including Gallotti & Radice, Georg Jensen, Penta and Secto.
