We are less than four months away from the big day

The date is finally set—Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s wedding will be happening on May 29 this year. The announcement came from the Buckingham Palace on February 7 after months of speculation and delays, thanks to all the royal drama that has unfolded in recent months.

With the dust around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure settled, we can finally look forward to Princess Beatrice’s big day, which is likely to be the last royal wedding in Queen Elizabeth’s family for years to come. Here’s what we know about Beatrice and Edoardo’s upcoming wedding, which will be updated as more information is released.

Where will it be held?

We previously reported that the Queen had offered to host Beatrice’s wedding reception at the Buckingham Palace, and the Palace has confirmed that it will take place in the gardens of its grounds.

The wedding ceremony will be taking place at the Chapel Royal in St James’ Palace, which has played host to many royal weddings throughout history—including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg’s in 1840 as well as King George V and Queen Mary's (then Duke of York and Princess Victoria Mary of Teck) in 1893.

Accommodating up to 150 guests, the Chapel Royal is an intimate space compared to the 800-seat St George’s Chapel in Windsor, where the weddings of Beatrice’s royal relatives Prince Harry, Lady Gabriella Windsor, and her younger sister Princess Eugenie were held.

Who will be in the bridal party?

Beatrice was the maid of honour for Eugenie’s wedding in 2018, so we're not surprised that Eugenie will return the favour this year. Eugenie even took to Instagram last week with a heartwarming throwback post of her and Beatrice as young bridesmaids, which many considered to be a hint at her role in the royal wedding.

As for the bridesmaids and pageboys, we expect to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte reprise their duties, with two-year-old Prince Louis participating for the first time. The Cambridge children are also expected to be joined by their royal cousins, Savannah and Isla Phillps and Mia Tindall, who were part of Eugenie’s wedding. Edoardo’s two-year-old son, Wolfie, is also likely to serve as a pageboy on his father’s big day.

Who is attending?

Despite skipping the engagement party, Prince Andrew will be attending and walking Beatrice down the aisle. Other senior royals include Queen Elizabeth, who will be hosting her granddaughter’s private reception; Prince Philip; Prince William and Kate Middleton; and Sarah Ferguson. It is still unclear if Harry and Meghan will be returning to the United Kingdom to participate in the wedding.

Beatrice and Edoardo’s exclusive guest list is also likely to include their famous friends, such as James Blunt, Ellie Goulding, Karlie Kloss, and Holly Branson.

What’s on the wedding registry?

Like the royal weddings before them, Beatrice and Edoardo are doing away with gifts and asking guests to support and “learn more about” the charities close to their hearts instead. The selected organisations are Big Change, which supports charitable projects to improve the lives of young people in the United Kingdom, and Cricket Builds Hope, which strives for positive social change in Rwanda through the game. Beatrice is the founder and trustee of Big Change, while Edoardo co-founded Cricket Builds Hope.
