Hailed as the haute couture of furniture design, French brand Christian Liaigre now offers local homeowners bespoke and customised furnishing services and solutions.

What do the opulent interiors of Mercer Hotel in New York, La Société restaurant in Paris, as well as the private homes of Karl Lagerfeld and Calvin Klein have in common? They were all designed by Christian Liaigre. One of modern history’s most important designers, Liaigre is credited as the first designer to introduce the dark and handsome African wenge wood into interiors, and pairing them with other shades of timber and rich creamy leather into a sophisticated interior palette we automatically associated with timelessly stylish interior nowadays. His furniture pieces are exclusive and mostly unique, and often hailed as “the haute couture of furniture design”. He is one of the most coveted and copied designers in the world. Copied, but never surpassed.

Of Nature and Craftsmen’s Art
Growing up near the scenic Atlantic coastal area in France, Liaigre formed a special attachment with nature and artisan crafts, two things from which his creative spirit was born. In 1985 he opened a design studio in Paris and a furniture showroom in 61 Rue de Varenne in 1987, where he debuted his eponymous furniture brand to a great success. The name Liaigre is synonymous with fine interior design and remarkable handmade pieces. Beauty, according to him, inheres not in the triviality of abundance, but in delicacy, rarity and restraint, and that our surroundings should function like a work of art, that appeals to our emotion and swath us in security as we cross the threshold.

Going Global
Following his debut, Liaigre became Europe high society’s best kept secret for ultra-luxury interior and furniture pieces. To cope with demand from well-heeled homeowners around the world, Christian Liaigre established a fleet of international galleries. Liaigre’s showrooms are now present in major cities, from New York to London, Brussels, St. Barts and Bangkok as well as countries, such as Brazil, Canada, Mexico, China, Russia, and Singapore.

The Singapore Showroom
Located in a heritage shophouse along Purvis street, the Singapore showroom was the chosen venue to launch the brand’s latest monograph, Liaigre 12 Projects. The oversize elegant tome is the brand’s third monograph and the first after seven years. From a chic black and white apartment in Athens, opulent townhouse in London and the designer’s own beachfront retreat in St. Barts, to the private Trinity Country Golf Club in Korea and the aforementioned superyacht Vertigo with its bespoke cabins, the book is a stunning preview into Liaigre’s universe of extreme elegance.
