Singapore Tatler Homes editor Young Lim's selection of fresh offerings from the halls of design.

1. Limited Edition Louis Poulsen PH 31/2-3

There’s much to be said about designs from the past that have stood the test of time, be it from the mid 20th century or before. One of the most recognisable designs to come out from the 1920s, the PH light stood out for its unique lampshade. The lamp is the work of designer Poul Henningsen, who would have turned 120 this year. In celebration of this momentous year, Louis Poulsen is launching a special edition of the 1929 design named PH 31⁄2 -3. True to the Henningsen’s original drawings, it is made of glass sections mounted in the original cast frame. The top shade is made of untreated copper, so you can expect the lamp to take on a beautiful patina over time.

2. Walter Knoll’s Grand Suite

As formalities fall away in our modern lifestyles, furniture designs increasingly take on a relaxed feel. Admittedly, it may be difficult to strike a balance between casual styling and luxe grandeur. Walter Knoll’s Grand Suite does this with much aplomb. The new sofa range from the Austrian design team EOOS exudes easy elegance. And with its large cushions encased in saddle leather, the sofa denotes a feeling of luxury too. Walter Knoll has also introduced new fabrics and leathers to its collection of materials, including natural earth colours. In line with the rising trend for living simply, it might just be the very thing for those who are looking for a grounded feel in their furniture.

3. Bottega Veneta's New Home Accessories

Italian label Bottega Veneta is renowned for its luxurious fashion and jewellery. Intrecciato, a leather-weaving technique conceptualised by its artisans, has remained the brand’s signature for decades. But the brand is also recognised for its home collection, which includes furniture and home ware products. True to the brand’s personality, the home collection too exudes sensuousness. This year, Bottega Veneta releases new additions to its Home Collection. Among the items unveiled at the Salone del Mobile this year is the silver flatware in a new brunito coloured finish. The result of combining rhodium and ruthenium, metals in the platinum family, the finish gives the sterling silver flatware its mysterious antiqued effect. On the flatware, you’ll see intrecciato engraving, a simple yet sophisticated touch that fits any table setting.
