Daphne Wee and Edmund Santoso Take the Lexus LC Convertible For a Spin
It’s important to recognise how a day of rest is vital even as our lives become increasingly hectic. So it was only natural for Daphne Wee, the daughter of veteran Singaporean realtor Dennis Wee, to feel elated for getting a day of leisure with her partner Edmund Santoso.
“Work has been stressful. So it’s always nice to take a break to recharge and spend quality time with your loved ones," she said as she made arrangements to go on a scenic drive in the new Lexus LC Convertible and picnic with Santoso.
Knowing that Santoso is quite the motorhead, she was quite sure the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine in the LC Convertible would get him all excited.
But deep down—she wanted to drive the beautiful convertible herself too.
Lexus’s passion for brave design, imaginative technology, and exhilarating performance makes for nothing short of a luxurious experience for drivers. Focused on accentuating the sleek lines of the LC Convertible, engineers at the Japanese marque opted for the soft-top design, minimising significant intrusions in the trunk and cabin space—this touch achieves an artful blend of the coupe’s unique roofline with the character of a convertible. Not only did the engineers work on the soft-top's design to enhance the car's aesthetics, but they also incorporated an innovative folding mechanism that opens in merely 15 seconds—even when the convertible is moving up to 50km/h.
Wee takes an exceptional delight in how quickly the roof is activated.
She shared: “With the press of one button and in just 15 seconds, the soft top is down, perfect for enjoying the breeze and the drive.”
A look at the car's interior design reveals a mark of true innovation in craftsmanship. The detailing, such as the tonneau cover and bolstered high-back sport seats, create an ideal driving posture for maximum support and driving pleasure, cast as part of the exterior’s sleek silhouette.
“The car’s silhouette is beautiful, especially its unique roofline. I also like how the door handle is flushed against the door surface and the L-shaped taillights,” said Wee. “Gorgeous.”
Whether riding through the stretch along East Coast Park or cruising through the bustling city, the LC Convertible delivers Wee the liberation of an exhilarating drive. With clear linear steering and exceptional driving rhythm boosted by the sensual engine sound, the drive is enjoyed even further with the top down—something that Wee agreed with.
She remarked: “I like how the car is such an easy and smooth ride. Listen to how the 5-litre V8 engine roars—just like a seasoned orchestra.”

Heading out in the LC Convertible was such a treat for Wee and Santoso—even though the latter lost a challenge and ended up as the passenger the entire ride; it gave the couple a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Part of the new line-up of flagship sedans, alongside the Lexus LS, the Lexus LC Convertible combines the seductive power of craft with elegance and unrivalled drive comfort.
