Zulal Wellness Resort is set to be the world’s first centre for Traditional Arabic Integrative Medicine; the resort could be a boost to Qatar's wellness tourism scene

Thailand’s leading spa brand Chiva-Som International Health Resort will be venturing into the Middle East, as it recently announced the launch of a new wellness destination in the coastal area of Khasooma in Qatar.

Touted to be Qatar’s largest and the Middle East’s first full immersion wellness resort, Zulal Wellness Resort will be operated and managed by Chiva-Som. Guests can look forward to the high standards of hospitality and dedication to sustainability that Chiva-Som is known for, integrated with an authentic experience of Qatari culture and heritage.

Developed and designed by Msheireb Properties, the resort offers plenty of ponds and water features—a nod to its name “Zulal”, which means “purified water”. It is inspired by the memories of early travellers journeying across the sea in search of water and shelter. Shaded, walled gardens evoke a sense of serenity and peace, creating a haven for relaxation.

Because wellness is for everyone, this resort will cater to both adults and families with children.

The 280,000 sqm space features an adults-only Wellness Resort that offers 60 suites and villas for travellers above the age of 16, as well as a Family Wellness Resort with 120 guest rooms and suites for all ages.

As for the resort’s wellness programme, Zulal Wellness Resort will feature fully integrated holistic programmes alongside state-of-the-art international treatments, including the world’s first centre for Traditional Arabic Integrative Medicine—a traditional healing practice that comprises the use of medicinal herbs, dietary plans, mind-body therapy, and spiritual healing. The resort will also offer a specially developed menu of ethnic wellness cuisine that brings together Arabic and Mediterranean delights.

Zulal Wellness Resort is slated to open in the second quarter of 2020.
