If the words overseas investment spark your interest, then we have quite the news for you

The words ‘White City’ may now be synonymous with the iconic headquarters of BBC television who famously occupied this W12 postcode for over forty years, but that wasn’t always the case. In its heyday, White City earned its name from sparkling white marble pavilions that hosted a variety of important international exhibitions as well as the 1908 Summer Olympics.

In 1960s BBC television took up residence and built a ‘Factory for Television’ said to rival Hollywood. They dominated the industry and produced globally renowned shows including Faulty Towers, Monty Python, Dr Who and Blue Peter.

The area is now undergoing a renaissance – kick started by the Westfields Shopping Centre – which has risen quickly to become the UK’s number one shopping mall, with over 30 million visitors a year.

The iconic BBC TV Centre sits at the heart of the current £8 billion White City regeneration project, arguably the largest and most iconic London property projects since Battersea Power Station. The redeveloped grade II listed, question mark shaped former TV HQ will offer flats of all shapes and sizes, from one-bed apartments (from S$1.4million) to penthouses (in excess of S$13 million) as well as stylish studios and family homes. There will be luxury amenities (think 24-hour concierge, screening rooms, residents lounge and gyms) as well as a host of independent cafés, restaurants and cinemas, all spilling out onto the famous landscaped forecourt, which at various points throughout the year plays host to upscale farmers’ markets and concerts.

Added glamour is injected by Soho House, the globally famous media focused members-only club, that is naturally at home in the iconic structure and will help establish ‘Television Centre’ as the new centre of gravity for west London.

The apartments and penthouses will occupy the inner, circular building that forms the famous courtyard with the Helios statue at its centre. There are tranquil private gardens and views over Hammersmith Park.

However, it is the regeneration of the area as a whole that will appeal to the savvy international investor looking for a sound overseas investment: there are two underground stations, the brand new Imperial College campus is around the corner, and as a result of the extensive work that is being undertaken prices look set to rise. “These are all important considerations for an investor looking to buy into the London market and find genuine capital appreciation. Take advantage of what we would classify as the ‘regeneration uplift effect’ by getting in at an early stage” comments James Puddle from selling agents Strutt & Parker.

Sales exhibitions for Television Centre will be taking place in Singapore from 24-25 October, 11am-7pm at the Four Seasons Hotel.
