Royal Selangor’s Samarra collection makes a bold statement with its striking geometric form. But the inspiration that sparked this contemporary masterstroke has its roots in the ancient city of Samarra, Iraq. It was in Samarra that mugarnas, a form of three-dimensional decoration applied to the underside of domes, etched its place in Islamic architecture. In this collection, you’ll find the architectural motif tastefully mapped onto bowls and tumblers. While some might favour bohemian crystal or fine china on their table, Royal Selangor’s modern rift on ancient forms proves that pewter can be equally stunning too.
