The director of a Malaysia-based property development firm and his university sweetheart marked their union with an opulent soiree that transported guests into a beautiful English rose garden.

Charles Chiu, director of Malaysia-based property development firm Global Skyline, and chartered accountant Zou Yanning, better known as Ann, sealed their union with a lavish dinner banquet at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore on April 24, 2016. In an ode to their alma mater University College London, the wedding venue was covered in blushing roses that evoked images of an English rose garden.

The son of Lee Keng and Dennis Chiu, a prominent figure in the property sector, the groom wore a bespoke English-style tuxedo from Kingsmen with Bulgari cuff links while Ann cut a stunning figure in an Oscar de la Renta gown. Guests included the who’s who of Singapore’s property scene including Ho Bee Group’s Chua Thian Poh and the founders of Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, Claire Chiang and Ho Kwon Ping. The rose garden design concept executed by Fiore Dorato was complemented with a decadent dessert buffet themed around an English tea party.

Heartwarming speeches by Charles and his father left many a damp cheek in the room. To the bride, Charles said, “In my eyes, you have always been, and always will be, the only girl for me.” But perhaps his most poignant words reflected the special bond he shares with his mother.
