With the recent release of the 24th James Bond film - the much anticipated “Spectre” – Preferred Hotels & Resorts has handpicked five independent hotels that would perfectly suit 007’s impeccable taste and serve as discreet home bases during his missions around the world.

Windsor Court Hotel – New Orleans, USA

The Bond classic “Live & Let Die” was filmed in New Orleans, home to the award-winning Windsor Court Hotel. Located in the city’s historic French Quarter, this beautiful old world English-style hotel has elegantly appointed, recently refurbished accommodations that include Italian marble baths, lavish artwork and antiques, and stunning views of the Mississippi River. Hotel New Otani “The Main” – Tokyo, Japan

The first Bond film to be based in Asia – the 1967 classic “You Only Live Twice” – featured a scene filmed in the lobby and driveway of Hotel New Otani.  This grand dame is an iconic hotel in Tokyo, comprising modern contemporary guest rooms, many of which feature exquisite views of the Imperial Palace grounds nearby. Located within a verdant and peaceful district near Tokyo’s business district and local attractions, Hotel New Otani features a historical 10 acre Japanese Garden, 12 exciting dining options and impeccable Asian hospitality.

Banyan Tree Mayakoba – Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Mexico has been one of the favourite film locations for the Bond franchise from as early as “Goldfinger” in 1964 to the recently released “Spectre”. The spectacular Banyan Tree Mayakoba is located in Riviera Maya, surrounded by lush native flora and fauna, mangroves, lagoons and beaches. Ideal for Bond’s late-night dalliances, the hotel offers exclusive private villas, each with its own pool, tropical garden and terraces with breath-taking views of the coastline. On their day off, travellers who want to relax like Bond can play a round on the Greg Norman signature 18-hole El Camaleon course.

The Wellesley– London, UK

Home of the world’s most infamous British secret agent and the famed MI6 headquarters, London offers some of the world’s chicest hotels, including the elegantly luxurious Wellesley Hotel. Centrally located in Knightsbridge, this legendary property boasts 36 contemporary Art Deco suites, Hermès amenities, 24-hour Butler service and charming old-world English hospitality that will exceed even 007’s exacting standards. Travellers can enjoy a tipple of choice - a Vodka Martini, shaken, not stirred - at the hotel’s Crystal Bar where the ambience brings to life the decadence and glamour of the roaring 1920s.

Grand Hotel Palace – Rome, Italy

Italy is another favourite destination for Bond filming locations since its debut in “From Russia with Love” in 1963. Most recently featured in “Spectre,” Rome is home to the awe-inspiring Grand Hotel Palace that was once the Ambassador’s Palace. This hotel is designed with a unique blend of contemporary art deco style and classic Roman architecture elements such as custom frescoes depicting Roman high society in the 1920s by Venetian artist Guido Cadorin, Murano crystal chandeliers, and marble floors. Each elegant guest room offers opulent furnishings, modern amenities and panoramic city views of Rome - an idyllic clandestine retreat fit for a stylish spy!
