From our favourite chilli crab to fresh lobsters and oysters, we bring you five of the best restaurants sure to satiate even the fussiest of seafood lovers

Singapore is home to some of the best seafood restaurants in Asia, with each one of them offering something different, from original creations such as the Kopi crab to Singaporean favourites like the black pepper crab. But whatever dishes your palate craves for, you are sure to find them at these five fabulous restaurants we’ve handpicked, just for you.

Red House Seafood

Established in 1976, Red House Seafood is one of the most trusted restaurants when it comes to fresh and quality seafood. Even though its original outlet at East Coast has now closed, its legacy continues on with its two other restaurants at Robertson Quay and Prinsep Street.

With these newer outlets, it’s not only the red lanterns that remind us of its humble beginnings. If you check out the menu, you would also see familiar favourites such as the chilli crab and white pepper crab. Not only that, there’s a myriad of Asian seafood dishes and local favourites to keep you coming back for more. (Photo credit: Red House Seafood’s Facebook page)

The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill

There may be a lot of seafood restaurants out there, but only a few have the reputation of The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill. Named after the bird that lets seafarers know that land is near, the restaurant has become synonymous to homecoming and celebration, which you can experience at the restaurant.

But what’s a grand welcome without good food, right? At The Pelican, seafood is always the highlight with a raw bar serving an exquisite selection of roe, caviar, lobsters, brown crabs, oysters, just to name a few. Executive Chef Jonathan Sparber has also updated the a la carte menu with new creations, but has kept signatures that made us fall in love with the restaurant in the beginning.

Long Beach @ Dempsey

Another restaurant with a long and rich history is Long Beach restaurant. What began as a small and humble seafood restaurant in 1946 has become one of the go-to places to enjoy fresh and succulent seafood dishes and local favourites. It has also expanded its brand with a total of six restaurants in Singapore.

One of its most popular outlets is at Dempsey, which still serves its signature classics such as the famous Black Pepper Crab and Chilli Crab. Other delectable creations on the menu are the Australian Live Sashimi with Superior Steamboat, Live Golden Stripe Lobster and the Crab with XO Bee Hoon. (Photo credit: www.thefoodnomads.com)

Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant

If there’s an apt word to describe this restaurant, it’s majestic. Located at Gardens by the Bay, the restaurant offers a stunning view of the Marina Bay waterfront, which serves as the perfect backdrop as you partake in its quintessential Singaporean favourites.

On the menu are original creations including the ‘Kopi’ crab, cooked in three special blends of coffee beans, and the delightful Baked Assorted Seafood Rice with Chef’s Recipe Sauce. These are complemented by the restaurant’s excellently curated winelist. (Photo credit: Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant’s Facebook page)

Tao Seafood Asia

On first look, Tao Seafood Asia is not that different from most Chinese restaurants in Singapore. The interiors are simple and warm enough to entice you to come and join them for lunch or dinner. But that’s where the similarities end.

Food-wise, Tao Seafood Asia stands out from most restaurants, thanks to the chefs’ skill in cooking Chinese dishes. Some of their signatures are the Crispy Fish Skin deep-fried and then pan-tossed with salted egg sauce and the all-time favourite of Pot-Roasted Crab with Egg Noodles.
