As brands unveil their upcoming bridal wear collections, one thing's clear — there's no shortage of drama.
As designers showcased their upcoming spring 2017 bridalwear, luxury designer, Carolina Herrera opted for a simple and sophisticated take on romance and focused heavily on graceful styles and modern shapes. Re-embroidered lace, nude tulle and floral motif appliqués paid homage to tradition, while silhouettes were completely modernised, resulting in a classic trench gown with pin-tucked detailing and a silk crepe pantsuit, while oversized bow details injected a touch of whimsy into the look.
Full-blown romance was on the menu at haute couture house, Georges Hobeika where the beauty of the blooming bridal bouquet inspired the collection. Textures included the traditional tulle and lace, accentuated by exquisite floral and foliage embroideries, while silhouettes remained fanciful and feminine, largely playing on full skirts and sweet necklines for a showstopping vibe.
At New York Bridal Fashion Week, fashion designer, Francesca Miranda presented 17 dramatic gowns that honoured women around the world. Miranda even named each dress after an inspirational female in her life. Intricate fabrics such as organza silk, unique 3D prints and laces were whipped up into unexpected silhouettes featuring oversized peplum skirts, tiered organza and tulle over skirts that added depths of volume. Dotted with Swarovski crystals and broken up by daring sheer panels, the collection was a fun and flirty ensemble rooted in romance and drama.
