Founded by the reigning monarch himself in 2006, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is a charity foundation for the planet Prince Albert II has been fiercely passionate about its efforts for the environment and biodiversity, with more than 420 projects funded and 51 million euros of grants awarded. The biennial Ball in Monaco by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in Asia marks its 10th anniversary this year on November 9 at the Marina Bay Sands, and it will be a celebration to remember. 1. Saving the Earth

Founded by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco in 2006, the foundation has focused its efforts in the Mediterranean basin, the polar regions, and the Least Developed Countries (As defined by the United Nations). Since its inauguration, more than 400 projects have been carried out, most notably the 2013 reforestation of degraded areas near water points in Brazil, and the creation of a Centre of Social Excellence in Cameroon, for the tropical forests of the Congo basin.

A soiree for the city’s most distinguished

The biennial Ball in Monaco is a fundraising gala dinner organised by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which benefits the foundation’s efforts in limiting the effects of climate change and promoting renewable energies; safeguarding biodiversity; managing water resources, and combatting desertification. The event is an elegant and highly exclusive gala, attended by the Singapore’s most prominent and altruistic individuals.

2. 10 years in Singapore

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in Singapore is the 8th branch of the Foundation around the world, and its only one in Asia. This year marks its 10th year anniversary in Singapore, and the celebration will take place at the iconic Marina Bay Sands, which has also supported the past four Ball in Monaco as the official venue.

A celebration to remember

With its 10th year anniversary, this year’s theme for the Ball in Monaco is ‘Celebration’ and there’s no better reason to celebrate. Expect a giant birthday cake, breathtaking fireworks, and 3D photo booth of the logo—the Ball always manages to surprise us.

Get transported to the Palace of Monaco

Speaking of surprises, we hear that the Grand Ballroom in Marina Bay Sands will recreate the palace in Monaco, but you’ll have to see it for yourself on November 9. Even HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will be in for a surprise. The Ball in Monaco’s advertising team Adstoria has been known to blow guests away with the captivating decor—transforming the ballroom into the North Pole one year and filling it with miniature hot-air balloons the next—so we think the team will definitely outdo themselves again.

Meet HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco

The Prince has always made it a point to attend the biennial Ball, and this year is no different—the monarch will be arriving in Singapore to host the event and give his welcome address to guests. Masagos Zulkifli bin Masagos Mohamad, Singapore’s Minister for the Environment and Water Resources will also be attending as the Guest-of-Honour.

Tuck into sumptuous delights

For dinner, guests will be treated to an innovative menu, crafted by the culinary team at Adrift by David Myers, paired with exquisite wines and champagne. The celebrity chef’s restaurant at Marina Bay Sands has been known for their flavour-forward Mod-Asian cuisine, prepared with fresh Californian produce and seasonal ingredients, so the menu is sure to excite your taste buds.

Bid for a Jeff Koons

One of the highlights of the Ball in Monaco is perhaps the charity auction with its stellar lineup. Contemporary art lovers can do their part for charity by bidding for Neo-Pop artist Jeff Koons’ ‘Balloon Dog’ sculpture. The series began in the mid 1990s, and is one of his best-known works.

Win a trip to the Monaco Grand Prix Formula One

Another coveted auction item is a trip for two to the Monaco Grand Prix Formula One 2019, inclusive of business class tickets on Air France, and four nights at the Fairmont Monte Carlo Hotel. Get your hands on a limited edition F.P.Journe watch

Created specifically for the 10th Anniversary of Ball in Monaco in Singapore, the unique Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante watch is engraved with the “Prince Albert II Foundation”. The design pays tribute to ancient China with oracle bone script numerals, one of the oldest known form of Chinese writing that was carved on animal bones. It encloses the new monopoussoir split second chronograph movement in Aluminium alloy.
