Take a peek into actor Johnny Depp’s former residences with ex-wife Amber Heard, which were brought up during their ongoing defamation trial
Unless you’re on an ongoing celebrity news detox, it’s hard to miss all the ongoing courtroom drama and intrigue that’s been a part of the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial.
Widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s biggest film stars, Depp’s defamation trial against his ex-wife Heard is the talk of the town. Many of the alleged incidents brought up in court are said to have occurred across several of Depp’s lavish property holdings, including his private island in the Bahamas, as well as his collection of penthouses in the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles, where the pair had once lived together.
The 13-storey Eastern Columbia Building was first designed by American architect Claud Beelman in 1930; it is considered to be one of the best surviving examples of art deco architecture in the city, with its iconic turquoise facade and gold and blue trimmings adding a touch of glamour to the Los Angeles cityscape. After the tower underwent a refurbishment in 2007, Depp acquired five of the multi-level penthouses in the building.
In 2017, after his divorce with Heard, the actor officially divested himself of all five units. The penthouses were initially listed on the market together for US$12.78 million but were ultimately sold separately to different buyers. He earned a collective US$10.9 million from the sale.
